The Big Ten has formally announced the new conference divisions.  As leaked earlier in the day by ESPN, the new divisions place NU into the same group as Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and newcomer Nebraska.  Next year, NU will play Nebraska for the first time since the 2000 Alamo Bowl.

The NU-Illinois rivalry is an annual protected rivalry, but the Wildcats' protected series with Purdue is over, and the NU-Wisconsin grudgefest is now a thing of the past.
In 2011, for the first time since 1994, NU will not play Purdue, and for the first time since 1933, NU plays neither the Boilers nor Wisconsin.

Wednesday's announcement did not cover the non-conference portion of each Big Ten school's schedule.  The fate of the NU-Rice game, slated for November 2011, is unclear.
